Which Hammond longboard should you buy?
Four models, one foundation, four characters. Instead of a top-10 mixing boards from twenty brands, we — as the maker — line up our own collection honestly, so you can see at a glance which Hammond longboard fits your riding style, height and level.
One build quality, four characters
Every Hammond is built from 8 plies of Canadian maple, custom 70mm Surf Highway urethane wheels and Abec-5 bearings. What sets the models apart is length, wheelbase and truck mount — and those three decide where a board shines. A longer wheelbase brings calm and room (dancing, high speed); a shorter wheelbase keeps the board nimble and playful (tight carving, city cruising). Top-mount trucks give the most turning power; drop-through mounting keeps the centre of gravity low and forgiving.

What does a Hammond longboard cost?
A Hammond longboard costs between €124.95 (B-35) and €139.95 (Ding Dong), delivered as a complete board with wheels, trucks and bearings mounted — nothing to assemble yourself. Shipping within the Netherlands is free. Because you buy directly from the maker rather than a reseller, you pay no middleman margin.
Which Hammond longboard is best for beginners?
If you are just starting, choose a stable, complete board with drop-through mounting — it keeps the centre of gravity low and forgives an unsteady balance. That makes the B-35 and B-40 the most popular entry boards: the B-35 if you want something compact and light, the B-40 if you want the most stability. Both are ready to ride out of the box.
Frequently asked questions about choosing & comparing
Which Hammond longboard should you buy?
It depends on your riding style. For cruising and carrying the B-35 is ideal, for tight carving the Piper 40, for dancing and maximum stability the B-40, and for freestyle and tricks the Ding Dong. Looking for the most all-round choice? The Piper 40 and B-40 are the safest starting points.
What is the difference between the Hammond B-35 and the B-40?
The B-35 is 35 inches long with a 28¾-inch wheelbase: compact, light (3.5 kg) and nimble, ideal for cruising and carrying. The B-40 is 40 inches long with a 33¼-inch wheelbase and weighs 3.7 kg: longer and more stable, built for dancing and calm at higher speed. Both have drop-through mounting and the same wheel and bearing package.
Which Hammond longboard is the longest and most stable?
At 40 inches with the longest wheelbase in the collection (33¼ inches), the B-40 is the most stable Hammond longboard — built for dancing, long rides and calm at speed. The Piper 40 is equally long (40 inches) but has top-mount trucks, making it more nimble and better suited to tight carving.
Which Hammond longboard is best for carving?
The Piper 40 is the best Hammond longboard for carving: its top-mount trucks give the most turning power, making every turn feel like a snowboard carve. Want the same length but with extra stability and a lower centre of gravity? The B-40 is an excellent alternative.
Is a longboard from the maker better than the same one from a reseller?
The boards are identical, but with Hammond you buy directly from the maker. That means no middleman margin, direct product knowledge and warranty straight from the source. Resellers often sell the same Hammond models without that deeper knowledge or brand support.
